Paramedicine Practitioner, II
Formerly referred to as Intermediate Care Paramedic, this practitioner builds on their Primary Care Paramedic education and qualifications through an enhanced training program which includes learner-lead study, classroom, and clinical placement.
The function of Paramedicine Practitioner is to provide emergency patient care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), patient immobilization and extrication, oxygen therapy, basic trauma life support, blood glucose testing, and non-emergency patient care.
The Paramedicine Practitioner II is certified by a physician to:
- Operate a Semi-Automated External Defibrillator
- Provide Blood Glucometry
- Advanced Airway Management
- Intravenous Fluid Therapy
Administer life-saving medications including, but not limited to:
- Epinephrine
- Salbutimol
- Acetaminophen
- Glucagon
- ASA
- Ibuprofen
- Nitroglycerin
- Dextrose 50W
- Ketorolac
- Naloxone
- Dimenhydrinate
- Diphenhydramine
plus additional medications.
