Intermediate Care Paramedic

The education and qualifications of the Primary Care Paramedic is enhanced by an additional training program. This program includes learner-lead study, classroom and clinical placement.

The function of Enhanced-Primary Care Paramedic is to provide emergency patient care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), patient immobilization and extrication, oxygen therapy, basic trauma life support, blood glucose testing, and non-emergency patient care.

The Intermediate Care Paramedic is certified by a physician to:

  • Operate a Semi-Automated External Defibrillator
  • Provide Blood Glucometry
  • Advanced Airway Management
  • Intravenous Fluid Therapy


Administer drugs including:

  • Epinephrine
  • Salbutimol
  • Acetaminophen
  • Glucagon
  • ASA
  • Ibuprofen
  • Nitroglycerin
  • Dextrose 50W
  • Ketorolac
  • Morphine
  • Fentanyl
  • Naloxone
  • Lorazepam
  • Dimenhydrinate
  • Midazolam
  • Diphenhydramine
